District 6 2017 Umpire Clinic

The CT District 6 Little League Umpire staff is pleased to announce the 2017 D6 Umpire Clinic on April 1st.   Last year we had 103 umpires/coaches (yes I said coaches; this is for your coaches too) join the fun of this clinic.  Well we are hoping to beat that number this year!

The top two areas of feedback was the following:
  1. Allow for smaller groups.
  2. Advance Mechanics teaching.

Well we have listen to your requests!

We have rented more of the facility where we will have TWO small diamond field mechanics going at the same time.  We will still have the 4 batting cages going for plate mechanics.

Finally, what I am excited about is we will have the opportunity to allow for the seasoned umpires to gain from this.  As we will have a Advance mechanics class this year!

You don't want to miss this!  Plus it is FREE!!!

If you have any questions; feel free to contact me

Little League Baseball and Softball

2017 Little League Umpire Clinic

Each registrant will receive a packet upon arrival to the clinic.  This packet will contain 2017 Little League Baseball and Softball rulebooks, the Umpire Manual, and "Making the Right Call."  This clinic is open to all levels of umpires.  Whether you are just starting out or you've been umpiring for years, this clinic will offer you information to aid your performance on the field.

The administration will reserve the right to limit attendance in order to preserve the integrity of the seminar.  Early registration for the popular, mid-winter event is strongly recommended.

New Baseball bats are required in 2018

New Baseball bats are required in 2018

See below letter from Bob Barnes of Little League International about changes to regulation baseball bats starting in 2018.

Dear Baseball Families,

Back in April we sent the following note alerting you to a new BASEBALL Bat standard that begins in 2018. With the holiday season
approaching we wanted to send another reminder. We recommend you take this new standard into consideration before making any additional bat purchases.

PLEASE NOTE THIS ONLY APPLIES TO BASEBALL BATS NOT SOFTBALL BATS

Little League International has issued a memo (attached) stating that they will be instituting a new bat standard starting with the 2018 season. The new standard (USA Bat) is being adopted by virtually all youth sports organizations. The intent of the memo is to give advanced notice about the forthcoming change.

Once the 2018 season hits ALL the bats we use today will no longer be allowed. We recommend you take this new standard into consideration before making any additional bat purchases. It is estimated that bats that meet the new standard will be available for sale starting fall of 2017. Any bat you purchase today will NOT meet the new standard in 2018.

The bats we use today will be allowed next year (2017), but as of January 1, 2018 they will no longer be allowed.

We wanted to bring your attention to this new standard well before it's adoption in 2018.

More information about the standard can be found on the Little League website at the link below.
